After a nearly four-month investigation, police in Dayton, Ohio have concluded that a white bus driver’s story – that he was shot in the chest by three black youths and that his life was saved because a slender religious tract in his shirt pocket stopped the bullets – was not a miracle but a lie.
“The whole thing was a hoax based on ugly racial stereotypes,” Mark Donaghy, executive director of the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) told Hatewatch yesterday. “I don’t know if there’s anything that could make me more angry.”
Before police revealed the truth this week at a news conference and officially closed the case as “unfounded,” the story of Rickey Wagoner’s adventure in the pre-dawn darkness of Feb. 24 had flashed around the world.
The story had everything: crime, race, a middle-aged, out-of-shape working stiff turned superhero and the word of God literally saving a man’s life.
But Dayton’s director and chief of police, Richard Biehl, told Hatewatch “the high probability and likelihood is that this was a staged event.”
“We don’t believe, certainly,” Biehl said, “based on our ballistics testing, there’s any way possible he could have been shot in the chest in this book and those bullets not go well through that book and into his torso.”
Wagoner told reporters he had no comment when they knocked on his door after the chief’s news conference. ( continue to full post… )
The FBI has joined the hunt for three suspects wanted for a possible hate crime in Dayton, Ohio, that sent a white bus driver to the hospital with stab and gunshot wounds and a miraculous story of survival.
The driver, Rickey Wagoner, 49, told authorities that he was shot once in the leg and twice in the chest in the pre-dawn darkness of Monday morning, but a religious tract titled “The Message” in his breast pocket stopped two of the bullets, apparently saving his life, the Dayton Daily News reported today.
Wagoner was attacked on a sparsely traveled stretch of his route. “I’ve been hit in the leg,” Wagoner told an emergency dispatcher at 5:20 AM, according to the News. “My chest feels like I’ve been hit with a sledgehammer.”
Wagoner described his attackers as three black males, probably in their late teens. Their faces were covered, however, by blue bandanas. They fled in a dark-colored 1990s Ford, leaving behind a .25-caliber handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.
A 10-year veteran of the Regional Transit Authority and a union steward with a sterling employment record, Wagoner told investigators that he was on the street, trying to determine why his electric-powered trolley bus had lost power when he was approached by the three males, the News reported.
Wagoner told investigators the attack may have been a street gang initiation. Wagoner said just before the shooting he heard one of the suspects tell another one to kill him “if you want to be all the way in the club,” according to the News, quoting from a Dayton Police Department crime report. Almost four months after Hatewatch broke the story about a black Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee operating a virulently racist website bashing gays and predicting a race war, Ayo Kimathi is no longer employed by the sprawling agency charged with protecting Americans from terrorism, a DHS spokesperson said late today.
The spokesperson said the last day at the agency for the man who called himself the “Irritated Genie” was Dec. 6. He had been on leave since shortly after Hatewatch’s first story on Aug. 21.
It’s unclear whether Kimathi was fired or quit. The spokesperson, Gillian M. Christensen, said privacy policies benefited her from providing any details about his departure. ( continue to full post… )
The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) has a new head hater.
The virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization announced last week that its leader, Malik Zulu Shabazz, was stepping down and would be replaced by chief of staff, Hashim Nzinga.
In making the announcement on the group’s online radio broadcast, Shabazz, according to the Anti-Defamation League, said that he was resigning his post as party chairman to focus on his career as a lawyer with the Black Lawyers for Justice, an organization he founded in 1996.
For anyone concerned that the harsh tone of the NBPP will change with his departure, don’t worry. ( continue to full post… )
Editor’s note: The Daily News reported late today that the victim in the attack described below has died.
A black New York City man who police say punched and critically injured a 62-year-old retiree last week after reportedly shouting “I’m going to punch the first white man I see” is scheduled to appear in court for the second time tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, the authorities are trying to determine whether the unprovoked and random attack last week near the chess boards at Union Square was a hate crime or the senseless act of a mentally disturbed man. “It’s still under investigation,” a spokesman for the New York City Police Department told Hatewatch today. A little over a year ago, Matthew Heimbach was annoying fellow students at Towson University with juvenile stunts like chalking “White Pride” and “White Guilt is Over” on sidewalks of the Maryland campus.
But in the last few months, since graduating at the end of the spring semester, Heimbach has been turning into a full-fledged neo-Nazi. No longer content with softer groups like the White Student Union that he started at Towson, Heimbach now rails about “conniving Jews,” goes on talk shows like that hosted by neo-Nazi David Duke, approvingly quotes terrorist assassin David Lane, wears a pistol when addressing a leading racist group, and calls for violent revolution.
“Revolution is the only answer to our plight,” Heimbach wrote in a post today on the Traditionalist Youth Network (TYN), an umbrella group he formed this spring with Indiana native Matthew Parrot and which now includes the White Student Union. “Our ancestors fought against the scabs, bosses, capitalists and Jews to make a better future for their children. Now we must do the same.” ( continue to full post… )
‘War is On,’ Writes DHS Employee Who Operates Racist, Homophobic Website Calling for Killing of Whites
The war is on! The smallhats (white so-called jews) have stepped it up.
So begins a defiant screed posted this weekend on the Facebook page of War on the Horizon (WOH), the anti-white, anti-LGBT website operated by Ayo Kimathi, a black Department of Homeland Security employee.
Kimathi was put on paid administrative leave last Friday after his double life – DHS employee by day, angry, homophobic racist by night – was confirmed and reported by Hatewatch on August 21. Kimathi, a small business specialist, works for a unit of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that is responsible for procuring such items as handcuffs, ammunition and guns. By day, Ayo Kimathi works for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a small business specialist in a unit that buys such items as handcuffs, ammunition and guns.
Off-duty, he calls himself “the Irritated Genie.” He’s a gay-bashing, revenge-seeking black nationalist who advocates on his website – War on the Horizon – the mass murder of whites and the “ethnic cleansing” of “black-skinned Uncle Tom race traitors.”
“Warfare is eminent,” the website declares, “and in order for Black people to survive the 21st century, we are going to have to kill a lot of whites – more than our Christian hearts can possibly count.” ( continue to full post… )
An infamous leader of the racist New Black Panther Party, known nationally for his boiling hatred of white people and apparent attempt to intimidate voters in 2008, is slated to appear in a New York City courtroom today to face charges of illegally carrying a loaded, unlicensed handgun and wearing prohibited body armor.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports that King Samir Shabazz, whose real name the newspaper said was Maruse Heath, was arrested last Thursday in Harlem, where he was reportedly helping plan a march this September to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Million Youth March. That rally, led by another white-hating black nationalist, featured exhortations to kill police and dozens of arrests.
The Daily News also quoted Shabazz speaking on a presumably recent “black-power radio show,” although it did not say when he spoke. Shabazz reportedly said that black people should form militias to kill whites, attack them with pit bulls, pour acid on them and raid nursery schools to “kill everything white in sight.” Shabazz, who is the Panther’s national field marshal, added, “I would love nothing better than to come home with a cracker’s head in my book bag,” the paper reported. Police arrested a suspect today in the racially charged beating of a white man who was left in critical condition after being attacked on his porch by what witnesses said was a group of about 20 African Americans, one of whom reportedly said, “Now that’s justice for Trayvon.”
The suspect, Terry Rawls, 44, has a lengthy criminal record, including convictions for assault, burglary, theft and firing a weapon into a building or vehicle, according to the Mobile Press-Register. Police said more arrests are possible.
Local officials appear to be attempting to tamp down speculation that the attack on Matthew Owens was some form of retaliation for the killing of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed African-American teen who was shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Fla., in February. ( continue to full post… )
