Rhonda Brownstein
Rhonda Brownstein has been with SPLC for 30 years, serving as its first law fellow in 1986 and as legal director from 2001 to 2009 and from January 2015 to the present. Rhonda has been instrumental in developing the SPLC’s legal agenda and overseeing its expansion. She initiated most of the SPLC’s legal projects and programs and has developed and led civil rights impact litigation across the country; two of her cases went to the U.S. Supreme Court. Brownstein has also served as executive director of the Education Law Center in Pennsylvania, taught at Denver University Law School, and was a legal aid attorney in Alabama and Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Penn State University and Temple University Law School.
