ACLU and SPLC launch ‘I Got 5 On It’ campaign to register and encourage voters
“I Got 5 On It” is a get-out-the-vote campaign from the ACLU of Georgia and the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Georgia state office for the 2024 election season.
The goal of the campaign is simple: Make sure as many people as possible show up to vote during early voting and on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
We need everyone from across Georgia to help get out the vote through the “I Got 5 On It” campaign. We encourage you to sign up as an individual or with your community group, family, church, fraternity, sorority or any other group. We can’t do this work without you!
Here’s how the campaign works:
“I Got 5 On It” is five weeks of action from Tuesday, Oct. 1, through Election Day. We encourage you to talk to five people about voting each week, as follows:
Week one (Oct. 1-5): Make sure five people are registered or have updated their registrations.
Week two (Oct. 6-12): Send five postcards (email or hard copy) reminding people that early voting is Oct. 15 through Nov. 1.
Week three (Oct. 13-19): Make a plan and vote early with five people.
Week four (Oct. 20-26): Knock on five doors to remind people to vote early or on Election Day.
Week five (Oct. 27-Nov. 5): Call or text five people and make sure they have voted early or have a plan to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
During these five weeks, you can also volunteer for textathons and attend teletown halls, as well as a virtual rally on Nov. 4.
Once you sign up, you’ll receive a kit to get started.
We look forward to your participation in this campaign to make sure everyone across Georgia shows up to the polls and votes for their rights!
