Margaret Huang slammed Tuesday’s presidential executive order from the Trump administration attempting to intimidate and disenfranchise more voters:
“This executive order pretending to ensure election integrity will actually prevent many Americans from voting. The order makes our elections less representative and threatens our democracy,” said Margaret Huang, president and CEO, SPLC. “The ultimate goal of the Trump White House is to make registering to vote harder and to intimidate people — particularly naturalized U.S. citizens and other people of color — from participating in our democracy.
“We refuse to stand by while the Trump administration destroys a key foundation of our democracy. The SPLC will fight this order with every tool that we have—to ensure the constitutional right to vote in this country is protected and accessible to every United States citizen,” Huang concluded.
