Values Voter Summit 2020: A Convening of Hate

Some of the country’s most extreme anti-LGBTQ activists, led by the hate group Family Research Council (FRC), will convene Sept. 22-25 for their annual “Values Voter Summit.”

The politically oriented summit, usually held in Washington, D.C., will be conducted virtually due to the pandemic. As in past years, it is co-sponsored by the American Family Association, a hate group that, like the FRC, has a long history of vicious attacks against the LGBTQ community.

This year’s conference is slated to feature “activist training session[s]” supporting Confederate monuments and demonizing the Black Lives Matter movement, among others.

The FRC announced that President Trump, who in 2017 became the first sitting president to speak at the conference, has confirmed that he will address it for the third time in four years. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are also confirmed speakers. Attorney General William Barr has also been asked to join a host of right-wing politicians and personalities addressing the summit.
