The Southern Poverty Law Center released its annual “Year in Hate and Extremism” report, identifying 940 active hate groups across the United States in 2019. Despite a slight decline from the all-time high of 1,020 hate groups in 2018, the SPLC documented an increase in the number of white nationalist, anti-LGBTQ and anti-immigrant hate groups.
