These incidents include only a fraction of the approximately 260,000 reported and unreported hate crimes that a 2013 government study estimated occur annually.
Jimmie Johnson Jr. was charged with misdemeanor harassment after he allegedly left four profanity-filled voicemails with the Tennessee Homeland Security office, threatening to kill President Barack Obama, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Congressman Paul Ryan. One of the voicemails allegedly contained a racial slur describing the president.
