An African-American teen is claiming that he was the victim of a hate crime at a party in West Chicago, Ill. The victim alleges that three white teens approached him after they saw him talking to a white girl and then punched and kicked him repeatedly. He suffered a broken jaw, four missing teeth and cuts and bruises. Three men were charged with aggravated battery.
A California man has been found guilty of arson and hate crime charges for attempting to burn down a church. Prosecutors said Izad Chavoshan was disgruntled over the local church’s teachings on masturbation.
A missing child was found safe in Buncombe County, S.C., after his mother took him to avoid a custody order. The boy’s mother, Aiden Crawford, claims she does not recognize the court’s authority and espouses other beliefs common to the antigovernment “sovereign citizens” movement.
A suspect alleged to be a skinhead was arrested in California for attacking a man armed with what is believed to be an ice pick or knife. The victim’s son called police and described two men fighting with his father; one had white supremacist tattoos.
