The event – designed to foster respect and understanding – encourages students to step out of their cliques and sit with someone new in the cafeteria for just one day. More than 1 million students across the nation took part in the event last year.
Schools planning to participate in this year’s event can register by adding their name here. The Teaching Tolerance website also offers free resources to help school groups and classroom teachers explore the issue of social boundaries and plan their activities.
