SPLC statement on SCOTUS Muslim ban decision

America was founded on respect for freedom of religion. President Trump’s Muslim ban weakens that respect and divides us as a country. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court’s preliminary ruling will allow religious discrimination against persons fleeing religious and political persecution until it decides the merits of the case in its next term. We can only hope that the Court will reconsider its position after it hears the case in October.
